Senior indian mp speaks at global technology summit

On Thursday, April 17th, Dr. Abhishek Singhvi, Senior Member of the Indian Parliament and National Spokesperson for the Congress Party of India, participated in a summit featuring political and business leaders from three leading world markets: China, India and Russia.  The conference entitled – “China, India and Russia – Our Partners in the New Global Economy” – provided public policy perspectives from high-level government leaders, operating insight from international company executives, and practical advice for companies interested in entering these markets.

“As the organizer for Dr. Singhvi’s visit to the U.S. and given the important focus of this global technology summit, USIBA appreciated the opportunity to support the program in Boston, and we look forward to doing more with these organizational partners in the future,” says Michael Taylor, Director of Government Affairs, USIBA.

“It was wonderful to have a member of the Indian Parliament give us a high level view of the government’s plans for growth, the realities of the country’s telecommunications infrastructure as well as its impressive labor supply,” said Joyce Plotkin, President of the Mass Technology Leadership Council (MTLC).

Attendees were offered multiple networking opportunities with company representatives from all three countries.  This event was organized by the MTLC along with the New England-Chinese Information and Networking Association (NECINA), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) – Boston Chapter, and the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England (USRCCNE) with the assistance of the U.S.-India Business Alliance (USIBA).

Keynote speeches were delivered by Lawrence Summers, World-Class Economist and Globalization Expert, and Meredith Attwell Baker, Acting Assistant Secretary of Communications and Information, U.S. Department of Commerce.  Other speakers included: Ilya Vladimirovich Ponomarev, Vice Chairman of the Information Technology and Communications Committee and Deputy of the Russian State Duma, Shankar Jagannathan, Senior Director of Global Operations and Strategic Business Management for the Information Management Software Group, EMC India, Vijay Lund, VP of Operations Systems & Technology Group, IBM Russia, and Aron Ain, CEO of Kronos, Kronos (China).
