ALBAWABA - French authorities said three women were injured in a series of knife attacks that occurred Thursday afternoon on the Paris metro network, prompting a swift police response and the arrest of a suspect.
According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the stabbings took place within a 30-minute window in central Paris. The public transport operator RATP confirmed the incidents occurred between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., initially allowing the attacker to escape.
Local media reported that the attacks happened at Arts et Métiers, République, and Opéra metro stations. A police source said the first victim suffered a light injury to her leg, the second was wounded slightly in the back, and the third sustained minor injuries after the suspect continued along Line 8 before being apprehended.
Authorities confirmed that all injuries were non-life-threatening. An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attacks and whether the incidents are linked.
French security services have increased their presence in metro stations as a precaution while judicial authorities continue questioning the suspect.
