Syria security forces killed seven people on the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, activists said. The Local Coordination Committees said in a statement that "seven people were killed on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, including four in the town of Al-Harra and two in Enkhel, in the Daraa province, and one in the (central) city of Homs."

According to press reports, demonstrations held in a number of towns and cities in Syria after the Eid prayer to demand the downfall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. According to activists, security forces also arrested about 50 people during a demonstration in Kfar Sousse not far from the capital city of Damascus.

On the last day of Ramadan yesterday, at least 17 people were killed by Syrian forces and dozens wounded as troops and security forces conducted raids in several areas across the country, according to the Observatory.
