Seven pilgrims die of exhaustion in Mecca

Seven elderly Asian and African pilgrims have died of exhaustion and heart troubles in the Saudi Arabian Muslim holy city of Mecca, according to Okaz newspaper. 

 

In its Saturday edition, the paper quoted medical sources as saying the seven who died on Friday were aged between 75 and 83 and were carrying out Umrah (minor pilgrimage).  

 

Over one million people took part in prayers at the Grand Mosque in Mecca on Friday, the second week of Ramadan. (Albawaba.com)
