A “paperless department” computer course has been successfully completed by Sharjah Town Planning and Survey Directorate officials, moving ahead towards the long awaited goal of promoting an “e-government”, according to Khaleej Times. The course took place at the Computrain Institute in Sharjah.
Obaid Al Tunaiji, the Director General of the Sharjah Town Planning and Survey Directorate, attended the course and later described the course as being an important part of the Directorate’s move towards preparing for future technological developments. He stated that the Directorate was also implementing electronic systems and upgrading ways to handle such developments, “the Directorate is preparing its staff to enter the digital age”.
Also participating in the course was Salem bin Salem Al Suweidi, Head of Public Relations and Follow-up Department, who spoke of the Directorate’s most significant electronic achievement - the establishment of an extensive geographic data system covering the entire Sharjah emirate and featuring digital maps and information on buildings and lands.
