Ariel Sharon, the prime minister elect is going to send soon delegates to Jordan and Egypt, conveying a "calm message" that he intends to continue with the peace process, sources told Albawaba.com.
The Palestinians and Arabs, together with international parties, have shown concern over the election of Sharon, who achieved a landslide victory over Labor candidate Ehud Barak casting a shadow over the future of the Arab-Israeli peace process.
Meanwhile, Arab leaders will discuss the "difficult circumstances" of peace following Sharon's electoral victory in Israel at a summit in Jordan in March, the Egyptian foreign minister said Wednesday, quoted by AFP.
"The summit will examine the difficult circumstances that the peace process would face with the arrival" of hawkish Sharon to the post of prime minister, Amr Moussa told Al Mussawar government weekly.
Arab leaders are expected to hold a summit in Amman next month and Jordan has said the meeting will take place March 27 and 28.
Moussa is currently accompanying Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on a visit to Kuwait, the last leg of an Arab tour aimed at mustering a united position ahead of the summit.
Mubarak, who holds the current presidency of the Arab summit until the next meeting, has already been to Tunisia, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
His talks in Tunis with President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali focused on the "difficulties that could face the peace process following a Sharon victory,” Al Mussawer editor in chief Makram Mohammad Ahmad wrote Wednesday, said AFP.
Mubarak and Ben Ali discussed "fears that violence in the Middle East could spread with the arrival to power in Israel of a right-wing government chaired by Sharon," said Ahmad who also accompanied Mubarak on his Arab tour.
Sharon "has insisted on his intention to use all means of dissuasion, including the threat of war, and shows little enthusiasm for the peace process," Ahmed wrote.
Mubarak discussed with the emir of Kuwait Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah Tuesday the regional situation and Arab issues.
The official Kuwait News Agency said the meeting focused on the situation in the Middle East and the latest developments in the region.
