Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, son of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, today attended the graduation ceremony held for the students of the Institute of Applied Technology- Ras Al Khaimah Campus (IAT- RAK) at the Cultural Centre here.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud presented certificates to as many as 150 graduates who completed their courses in Engineering Science, Automation and Mechatronics and Information and Communication Technology at the ceremony attended by students, teachers, parents and other dignitaries.
Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Director General of IAT, said," As we celebrate the achievements of our graduates today, we feel proud with the success of our country in the development of comprehensive knowledge economy, which helps our students overcome the challenges of future, and provide the Government with the needed skilled manpower as envisaged by Abu Dhabi Vision 2030."
He added that IAT has been able to achieve several academic milestones including the academic accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), a renowned accreditation institute in the USA. "The distinctive feature of the graduation ceremony this year is that IAT certificate is accredited by SACS which focuses on the quality of learning outcomes as specified by international standards. In addition, the IAT graduates have attained their targets in IELTS and IC3," Al Shamsi noted.
He said that IAT also became the first education institution in the country to include social volunteer work as a graduation requirement by launching the SANaD (Students Answer National Duty) programme. Furthermore, a military training programme is designed to give the students a sense of belonging and self- esteem.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Office Manager of Ras Al Khaimah Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of RAK Economic Development Department, Abdullah Hammad Al Shehi, Director of RAK Educational Zone and Bill Roden, Principal of RAK- IAT, were present on the occasion.
