Registered under a false name to keep her visit hush-hush, megastar Shania Twain sneaked into her hometown of Timmins, Ontario, Canada, and stunned a reunion of 2,000 former students from her alma mater, Timmins High and Vocational School, according to the National Enquirer.
According to NE, The 1983 graduate of the school, who now lives in Switzerland with record producer husband Mutt Lange, secretly jetted in, hid out at a nearby cottage she owns and instructed her publicists to insist she wouldn't attend the event.
But she did, accompanied by a few family members and dressed in a simple top and skirt. Publicity-shy hubby Mutt decided to stay home, said the Enquirer.
Everybody was stunned and delighted," Orest Lawryniw, one of the bash's organizers, told The Enquirer. "She tried to blend in, but that was impossible. She was incredibly charming and gracious.
"She walked around trying to meet as many people as she could. She spent an hour shaking hands, had dinner, then spent another hour reminiscing with old friends.
"She seemed to be enjoying herself. I told her I was sorry that people were swarming her, but she said, 'That's all right. I expect people to want to meet me.'
"She was here for only a couple of hours, but it was wonderful for everybody who was there.
"Shania wanted to be called Eilleen," Lawryniw added, since she was known as Eilleen Twain in high school. "People would say, 'It's so great to meet you, Shania.' And she kept saying, 'Call me Eilleen, today I'm just Eilleen. Today I'm one of you’”-Albawaba.com.
