First of kind agreement will help realise a shared vision to enhance mobile telecommunications services across the Middle East and Africa

Siemens Communications, one of the world’s largest communications providers, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Etisalat to support the UAE operator in its continuing international expansion strategy.   The signing of the MOU represents a landmark development in cooperation between the two companies. Under the agreement, Etisalat will consider Siemens Communications to be one of its preferred suppliers for the entire scope of communication technologies,

By choosing Siemens as one of its partners Etisalat is able to strengthen its position by consistently working with a supplier that has a proven track record of technology expertise, regional reach and superior products.  Additionally, Siemens Communications shares Etisalat’s vision to make leading-edge technology and ground-breaking products available to all, by developing telecommunications infrastructures across the Middle East and Africa.

“Etisalat’s continued rapid growth overseas can be attributed to the company’s respected brand, ability to understand customer needs and delivery of the right technology solutions to meet these needs,” said Soenke Peters, VP Siemens Communications Mobile Networks Middle East.

“A committed expansion strategy is essential to meeting these needs as today, Middle East businesses and consumers expect the very latest technology and are no longer content to follow behind developments in Europe, the USA and Japan.

“Like Etisalat, Siemens Communications is a company driven by innovation and dedicated to making technology available to all, making this extension of our cooperation a logical step for both companies,” concluded Peters.

Through the combination of in-depth local knowledge, global expertise and pioneering technology, Siemens Communications has been a key player in the development of mobile telecommunications infrastructures in the Gulf, Levant, Yemen and Pakistan. In particular, the company has strongly supported local operators’ regional expansion plans, working in partnership with them to increase business efficiency and facilitate the introduction of innovative third generation products and services to consumers in the Middle East.
