Six Bahraini students for Sico’s summer internship programme
Securities & Investment Company (SICO), the Bahrain based regionally focused investment bank, is mentoring six Bahraini students for its annual Summer Internship Programme. The six students, all from Bahrain University will undertake an intensive summer training programme at the regional investment bank.
The students will work closely with senior management of their respective departments to gain first hand experience of operating within investment banking as well as developing an understanding of the GCC investment banking sector and capital markets.
Commenting on the programme, Mrs. Nadia Khalil, Head of Human Resources & Administration, SICO, said, “We see it is our responsibility to invest in the next generation of financial services professionals for Bahrain. The financial sector is one of Bahrain’s biggest revenue generators, so it is crucial for the future development of the sector that will do all we can to mentor the next generation of investment banking professionals. Our annual Summer Intern Programme gives some of Bahrain’s high performing students the chance to experience what it’s really like to work within investment banking and to build up their knowledge. For SICO to continue to grow and deliver outstanding client service, it needs to continually attract and develop the best investment banking talent. The Summer Intern Programme is an important part of this process and we are pleased to be able to welcome six talented students to SICO for the summer.”
The six students were selected on the basis of their strong academic performance in banking related subjects and other relevant areas such as, Finance, Accounting, Economics and IT. The Internship Programme is designed to enable the students to gain relevant work experience in a dynamic finance based environment, help them meet work experience requirements as part of their degrees and to encourage them to consider careers in the rapidly developing regional banking and finance industry.
