ALBAWABA- Slovakia's populist Prime Minister Robert Fico was critically wounded in a shooting attack during a government meeting, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.
The assailant was arrested, and investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the assault. The incident occurred outside the House of Culture in Handlova, where Fico was in a meeting with supporters.
President Zuzana Caputova condemned the attack as "brutal and ruthless," wishing Fico a speedy recovery. Fico's political comeback has sparked concerns about Slovakia's pro-Western stance, with critics fearing a shift towards pro-Russian and anti-American policies akin to Hungary's Viktor Orbán.
