European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana will embark on a four-day Middle Eastern tour on Sunday in yet another bid to ease tension in the region, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA).
Solana will visit Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, the Palestinian territories and Israel.
A statement said that Solana would hold talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
Discussions will center on "the tense situation in the Middle East and the European Union's (EU) contribution in efforts to resume the peace negotiations in the region," said the statement, cited by the agency – Albawaba.com
