With the initiative of the Tunisian Union of Social Solidarity (UTSS) and the Minister of Social Affairs, some 600,000 dinars and 500 tons of food will be distributed to 24,000 low-income families. La Presse reports that the Council of Tunis decided to open 87 "iftar" restaurants for fast-breaking during the month of Ramadan. The UTSS will financially support these iftar restaurants by sending foodstuff amounting to 10,000 dinars. The budget for the Ramadan assistance programs in different parts of the country is estimated to be some 1,805,000 dinars.
