The son of an Iranian reformist, detained along with 60 other activists since March, has denied earlier reports of his father's release, the Persian daily Norouz said Tuesday, quoted by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.

He said his father, Jamshid Mansourian, was still in jail despite the bail they posted for his release with the Tehran Revolutionary Court, the paper said.

On Sunday, the court said that it had released Mansourian along with another opposition liberal, Ali-Akbar Sarjami, after both posted bail.

Last week, the court ordered the release of four indicted liberals, Mohammad Omrani, Hossein Rafiee, Ali-Reza Rajaie and Masoud Pedram. Their release was followed by reports of an imminent release of several others, said the agency.

The prisoners, all members of the outlawed Freedom Movement of Iran (FMI), have been in temporary detention since March.

According to the New York Times, since the June 8 presidential vote, the conservatives have used institutions like the judiciary, the police and unelected religious organizations they control to place added pressure on the reformers.

The Times report cites examples of arrests and convictions of reformists, including MPs, the cancellation of a parliamentary act, and “scandals” unveiled to the detriment of pro-reform figures – Albawaba.com
