Bird will be responsible for leading EMEA sales, marketing and operations; 70 SonicWALL resellers meet in Dubai to plan 2008 strategy

SonicWALL, a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced the appointment of Keith Bird as Vice President of Sonic WALL in the EMEA region. The announcement came during SonicWALL’s ‘Annual Reseller Conference’ being held in Dubai. Bird will be responsible for leading EMEA sales, marketing and operations.

“Keith takes over the helm of EMEA sales and operations at a particularly exciting time for SonicWALL,” said Matt Medeiros, President and Chief Executive Officer at SonicWALL. “Having long established a leading position as provider of business protection solutions to the SMB market, with the launching of a new range of E-Class products, we are now looking to significantly enhance our position within this market space. We believe that Keith’s impressive track record is an excellent qualification for expanding SonicWALL’s presence in the EMEA region.”

Bird has been a pivotal player in SonicWALL’s European strategy, first as Regional Director for the Northern Europe operation and more recently as Managing Director of Europe. As a key architect of SonicWALL’s outstanding regional growth during 2006, Bird will be looking to work in close conjunction with SonicWALL’s existing channel partner base, as well as recruit new partners to help SonicWALL develop its market share within the EMEA.

“I believe SonicWALL is well positioned with new and established business security solutions to make an increasingly important impact in the EMEA region,” said Bird. “As a 100% channel-focused company, we intend to work hand in hand with existing and new partners to ensure that SonicWALL solutions are the business protection of choice for companies of all sizes.”

To emphasise SonicWALL’s commitment to the Middle East & Africa region (MEA) and the importance the company places on channel partners, Bird made his first visit to the region to attend and address SonicWALL’s ‘Annual Reseller Conference’ in Dubai. The conference this year has attracted over 70 resellers and partners from the MEA region gathered to discuss business and channel strategies for 2008 as well as SonicWALL’s recently launched E-class products that are targeted for large enterprises.

The event will come to a close with an awards ceremony to honor SonicWALL’s top resellers and partners in the region.

“SonicWALL will continue to development its commitment to its MEA channel. Over the next 12 months, we will also see a focus on developing resellers and partners in the large enterprise space,” said Shahnawaz Sheikh, SonicWALL regional sales manager Middle East and Africa (MEA). “We are continually working on products that empower knowledge workers by providing them with fast and reliable access to information. With the help of our partners and resellers in MEA we hope to increase our product footprint geographically and across enterprises of all sizes.”
