Russia is planning to resume military cooperation with Iran, effectively scrapping a 1995 agreement with the United States that banned arms sales to the erstwhile "rogue" state, government sources told Interfax Thursday.
Russia has already informed the US government that it plans to dump the secret accord signed by US Vice President Al Gore and former Russian prime minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, the sources said.
Russian sources cited political reform in Iran and last month's leaking in the United States of the details of the 1995 agreement as the reasons for Moscow's decision, Interfax said.
