Spectrum Installs the First Xerox iGen3 Digital Press in the Region

The first Xerox iGen3® Digital Production Press to come to the Middle East region was unveiled today at the launch of Spectrum, a digital print solutions provider, based at Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). This next-generation technology from Xerox, firmly illustrates The New Business of Printing, unlocking new opportunities for high-quality printed colour materials that are personalized, available on-demand and integrated with the web.

The Xerox flagship iGen3 digital printing solution which makes it ME regional debut is designed to help digital print professionals like Spectrum, to generate higher profits and deliver more value to their customers. This is achieved by providing the right digital production technology, the right workflow and the right business development resources which are a growing requirement in this region.

Spectrum is the first to recognize the importance of variable data printing in the Middle East region. “We want to revolutionize the way that print is handled and we believe that the iGen3 provides us with the perfect solution to achieve this,” said Marcus Doo, MD, Spectrum.  “Spectrum will offer customers in the Middle East a new and special service all made possible by the investment in this state-of-the-art variable printing solution from Xerox.”

The iGen3 weighs some 3 tons and measures 30 feet in length. Unlike, a traditional offset press this high-end digital print solution combines ecological (97% of the machine’s components are recyclable) and technical benefits of digital printing methods within the production press environment. The iGen3 is capable of producing 6,000 full colour A4 or 1,500 A3 4x4 colour impressions an hour, easily exceeding the output speed of more conventional presses.

The iGen3 has a number of benefits including, high flexibility, enabling Print Solution Providers to satisfy customer demands, whilst eliminating the labour-intensive preparation phase, allowing for short run digital printing, a critical factor in bringing costs down. This New Business of Printing from Xerox also offers personalized printing through back-end CRM systems, web pages or even relevant call centre data.

Digital Print Solution Providers can now take on jobs from a wide array of customers, maximizing efficiency and productivity and thus improving their profitability.  Paper stocks can be mixed on the same run allowing for full collated books to be bound and delivered faster to clients. The iGen3 also allows for just-in-time printing and can mix colour with black & white on the final output.
