Splash, the leading fashion retailer in the Middle East, walked away with the coveted ‘Business Excellence’ award at the inaugural Retail ME Awards. Held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, UAE Minister of Economy and Planning, the Awards ceremony took place recently at the Emirates Towers Hotel.

Raza Beig, Managing Director of Splash, on receiving the award said: “It is thrilling to win such a prestigious award and to be recognised by the retail industry as having the best business practices in the region.”

Splash won the Award for its “T-90” business concept that was launched to ensure that at least 90 per cent performance levels are achieved in all business aspects. According to Beig, the plan facilitated increased synergies between various departments to achieve targeted goals.

The T90 initiative was conceptualised based on the results of an internal customer-satisfaction survey. A variety of tools including reporting systems, effective communication and training were used to reinforce the "T-90 mantra" amongst all staff. Splash has recorded optimum levels of performance in all its departments since the implementation of the novel programme.

The awards, which have been instituted to recognise retail excellence in the region and encourage retailers to match global standards, was judged by an international panel of retail experts including Saeed Al Nabouda, CEO of Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises.

Starting its operations with just one store in Sharjah in 1993, today the retail fashion house has grown to 53 stores in the Middle East. Each store boasts an average size of 18,000 sq.ft. Over the years Splash has developed a number of in-house brands, each designed for a particular target audience and style. These include Ms, Zync, Nexus, Scarlet, Retro and Maxim. Apart from its home-grown brands, it is also a franchisee for Lee Cooper (the European denim wear brand), Maui and Sons (the California based surf & lifestyle brand), Kappa (the Italian sportswear & lifestyle brand) and Zodiac (the business shirt & tie brand) across the Middle East. It is also the official distributor for Bossini in Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

“Splash will surely be back next year at the Retail ME Awards in several other categories. We have set ourselves to work harder and raised the bar for excellence. We aim to achieve quality and high standards in everything we offer. This award serves as a strong motivation for all of us,” concluded Beig.

Splash LLC is a leading fashion retailer in the GCC with headquarters in Dubai and a regional retail network of 53 Splash stores and 57 individual brand stores. Splash showcases popular collections for young girls, boys, men and women of different age categories. Its in-house brands include Ms, Nexus, Maxim, Retro, ZYNC and Scarlet. Splash is also the exclusive licensee for Lee Cooper and Kappa in the Middle East; as well as the franchisee for Bossini in Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Splash has made huge strides from its humble beginnings since its launch in 1993. Once perceived as a clothing store retailing value clothes outsourced from Asia and the Far East, Splash has come a long way. Today, it is well recognised as a regional fashion retailer that walks in step with global trends and latest international catwalk fashion. Over the years, its customer base has also grown in both number and sophistication.
