spotlight on major new education showcase as classrooms get back to business
NAJAH connects entire UAE education community as
information-hungry generation of youth emerges
As school, college and university students get back to business after their summer break, a major new event connecting the entire UAE education community is taking on special significance for this generation of information-hungry youth.
NAJAH, the most comprehensive education, training and careers exhibition to be held in the Emirates, offers the UAE’s 500,000 students essential guidance for further education, careers advice and business industry information.
Taking place from 4-6 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, NAJAH is seen as a “must attend event” for school, college and university students, and their parents, who are eager to learn more about education opportunities.
The event, which is supported by the Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council and the Ministry for Labour, is expected to attract more than 6,000 visitors, including teachers, students, university deans, Ministry of Education personnel, HR managers and education professionals.
The exclusive features of the show include topic-specific seminars, CV and job profiling, and career advice sessions. The three-day event will give visitors the opportunity to meet career counselors on a one to one basis to discuss how to achieve life goals.
For young people who do not know which direction they want to take, job profiling sessions will help determine skill sets and outline specific professions to pursue. Seminars will tackle topics such professional CV writing and job interview tips and techniques. NAJAH is providing a one stop shop for tomorrow’s young professionals.
Over the past 17 years the UAE’s population has increased by more than 5 per cent annually – the highest growth rate in the Arab world – and almost 50 per cent of the population is now under 20 years of age.
It is essential that young people in the UAE are given as much information about the opportunities available to them as possible. Students who have access to information about different careers and options are much more able to make fully committed decisions about their direction, and thus move up the career ladder with confidence and ambition.
Organised by the Institute for International Research (IIR), the show will support the ongoing Emiratization programme through a specialised careers counseling service provided by Tawteen, which will be highlighting its initiatives and projects to help nationals find careers in the government and private sectors.
Among the leading international and local learning institutes and companies taking part at Najah will be Abu Dhabi University, the University of Sharjah, the Paris Sorbonne University-Abu Dhabi, ADNOC, Abn Amro and Schlumberger.
Christine Weaver, Exhibitions Director of NAJAH, said: “As the number of young people in the UAE grows, at such a fast rate, it is essential for students and parents to research their opportunities as fully as possible so that they are able to make the right educational decisions.
“The exhibition offers young people access to a wide number of educational institutions regionally and worldwide and will allow them to gather more information about areas that interest them. For those who may not be quite as certain, the careers advice sessions are a “must” and will help set attendees on the right path.”
The Middle East HR Summit will be held along side Najah from 4-8 November 2007 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The region’s premier annual conference and exhibition for human resource professionals features an even bigger programme in 2007 with a Pre-Summit Guru Day led by Professor Dave Ulrich, currently the world’s leading HR thinker.
More than 50 international and regional HR experts will share their expertise at the Summit which offers more than 25 information packed sessions, specialist streams, interactive workshops, a parallel exhibition and the highly respected Middle East HR Summit Excellence Awards Gala Dinner.
