Sri Lanka police detained more than 200 villagers for questioning after the massacre of 24 Tamil detainees at an open prison Wednesday, officials said Thursday.
The villagers are all members of the majority Sinhalese community, police said.
President Chandrika Kumaratunga has already ordered two teams of detectives to investigate the killings, which have been condemned by all political parties and the local media – COLOMBO (AFP)
