Srichand p hinduja - Chairman, hinduja group of companies

Known affectionately as ‘SP’ by his business associates and friends, SP is the son of the late Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, the founder of Hinduja Group and the Hinduja Foundation.

SP is the eldest of four brothers and head of the Hinduja Group and charitable Foundations. Married to Madhu, he has two daughters, Shanu and Vinoo, and lives in the United Kingdom.

After finishing his studies, in 1952 SP joined his father in the family’s business. Under his leadership and vision, and with the support of his three brothers, Gopichand (GP), Prakash (PP), Ashok (AP) and four sons (Sanjay, Ajay, Dheeraj and Remi) and one daughter Vinoo, the Hinduja Group has expanded to become a major transnational conglomerate and investment company.

Today the Group has offices and operations in over 25 countries including India, Iran, United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates. The Group’s diversified portfolio includes transport (Ashok Leyland), energy and lubricants (Gulf Oil International), banking and investments (Amas Bank Switzerland, Amas Investments and Project Services and IndusInd Bank in India), IT, telecommunications and media (HTMT), chemicals and pharmaceuticals; international trading, real estate and infrastructure development and as well as many philanthropic activities, primarily in education and healthcare (Hinduja National Hospital).

SP is also the chief architect and global coordinator of the IndusInd banking and finance organisation, which was set up to bring together resources and provide the opportunity for Indians in India and overseas to participate and make a real contribution to the economic development of India.  It is the first bank that has managed to mobilise the funds of non-resident Indians for the real benefit of India.

Through his years of business experience operating in the free market and protected economies across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, SP’s fundamental belief is that a free market economy can improve tolerance and understanding between different peoples and cultures, which will benefit all mankind.
