On November 13, 2023, a stabbing occurred at Louisiana Tech University's Lambright Sports & Wellness Center around 9 AM.

The university police promptly responded, arresting the suspect, student Jacoby Johnson, at 9:12 AM.

The attack unfolded outside the Lambright Center as victims were leaving. Johnson fled south toward the main campus but was apprehended without incident.

Contrary to initial reports of a fatality, no victims had been pronounced dead. Louisiana Tech Police Chief Randal Hermes confirmed four individuals injured, with one in critical condition. Two victims were airlifted to Shreveport, La., for treatment, while one declined medical assistance.

Officials believe the incident was a random act of violence. Jacoby Johnson is receiving medical treatment at Northern Louisiana Medical Center for injuries sustained during the incident.

The suspect's capture occurred at the Kidd Student Housing Complex, where Johnson, not believed to be a resident, was taken into custody. Ruston High School briefly implemented a "soft lockdown" in response to the incident.
