Reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Dallas Stars leveled their NHL championship series with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils in East Rutherford, Thursday.

Goaltender Ed Belfour made the saves he didn't make in game one and Brett Hull scored two goals, leveling the best-of-seven series at one triumph each.

Belfour stopped all 19 shots over the final two periods.

Stars' Hull scored the first goal and the Devils Hispanic standout Scott Gomez, scored the second, which tied it at 1-1.

The game was deadlocked at a point each for more than 43 minutes until the Stars' sniper scored the game-winning goal when he tipped the puck into the net with less than five minutes left in regulation time.

New Jersey emerged with an 8-7 advantage in shots in the penalty-free frame.

Game three is scheduled for Saturday in Dallas - (Several Sources)
