Step Aside, USA: Russia and India Agree to Cooperate For Stable Afghanistan

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met at the BRICS Summit to discuss the future of war-torn Afghanistan, according to a report in The Economic Times.

The leaders agreed to expand cooperation in order to stabilize the country in which both have political, economic and other interests. 

India is reportedly seeking to expand development projects in Afghanistan, while Russia is concerned about the surge in terror attacks and the security situation overall. 

The meeting between Modi and Putin came as Trump announced that the US would be sending thousands more troops to the country which has seen non-stop war for decades. 

The two leaders also reportedly discussed ways to increase trade between their nations and strengthen investment ties.
