Hollywood tough guy Steven Segal is linking up with hit-making
producers and songwriters from the Backstreet Boys, 'N SYNC and Britney Spears’ camps to work on his debut album.
A singer and guitarist, Seagal's originals have appeared in the
soundtracks to several of his films, including Fire Down Below, Out For Justice and On Deadly Ground, but never on a full album bearing
his name.
He says of his move into music, "we could have a deal whenever we
want. We have all kinds of offers," adding that he also co-wrote
the song Running for the film with artist and producer Devonte of Jodeci.
And he says, "I wrote 27 songs for the album and we don't know
which ones we'll use, but four of them are close to mastered.
"I grew up with Lightnin’ Hopkins, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, those guys, so I can play that old kind of blues. Most of the folks these days don't know that stuff too well, but I'm not trying to
take the old blues and make it popular again because they say
people don't really like that stuff anymore."
He adds, "I play all over the world. The last tour I did, I had
keyboard player Tim Carmen from Eric Clapton, Bernard Fowler from the Rolling Stones, bassist Reggie McBride from Stevie Wonder and Billy Preston play with me” – WENN.
