Tunisian and Ukrainian rescue workers struggled with hard weather conditions Monday as they continued to look for a Tunisian cargo ship that went missing last week off the Black Sea coast, Ukraine's emergency ministry said.
Five Tunisian rescue workers have joined the search, launched by Ukraine last Thursday after the Amira-1 issued a distress call and then went missing on its way from the Crimean peninsula to Turkey, the ministry said.
Rescue workers have thus far found four life belts and two lifeboats, but there has been no sign of the ship or the 24 people onboard, according to Interfax.
A Ukrainian ship and rescue helicopter were taking part in the search, while Russia's Black Sea fleet called off its participation on Friday, saying that the operation was the responsibility of the Ukrainian authorities. (Albawaba.com)
