ALBAWABA - Palestinian groups in the West Bank announced strikes and marches in condemnation of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.

The head of the political bureau of Hamas Haniyeh was in the Iranian capital of Tehran during a visit to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to Iranian media, the Hamas leader was killed in a rocket attack at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

The announcement of the strike comes as all Palestinian forces decried the assassination and stressed that it will not deter the Palestinian people from continuing the struggle against the occupation.

A video was posted on social media from Hebron showing closed shops on Wednesday morning in a way to show protest over the killing of Ismail Haniyeh.

In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that they are studying the dimensions of the incident of Haniyeh's death in Tehran as Iran has launched an investigation and will announce the results later, Al Jazeera reported earlier.

Reuters quoted an Iranian source who confirmed that Iran's Supreme National Security Council held an urgent meeting and it is studying a strategy to respond to the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran.

The meeting in Iran was held in the headquarters of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in the presence of the commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards.
