Nine Iraqis were killed in a string of attacks across the war-ravaged country Thursday. A large blast hit a Baghdad neighborhood near a telephone exchange Thursday, killing at least three people, Iraqi police said.
In Mosul, three policemen and two civilians were killed in a rocket and automatic rifle attack, police said.
Also near this northern Iraqi city, the Sheikh Fatihi police station was attacked with a homemade bomb and fighters who shot at it from a car as they drove by, said Mahir Salam, an official at the Al-Jumhuri Hospital where the injured police, including an officer, were taken.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a police patrol was attacked by men firing from a car in Mosul. One policeman was wounded and the attackers escaped, said Police Lieut. Zuheir Mohammed.
Another Iraqi police officer was killed and two others seriously wounded in the northern city of Kirkuk when gunmen attacked their patrol, police said, according to AFP.
A US soldier was also wounded near Baquba, in central Iraq, after a homemade bomb went off near his convoy. (Albawaba.com)
