Sudan's first two test tube babies were Sunday born by Caesarean section in the capital, Khartoum, Panafrican News Agency (PANA) reported.
Authorities at the Sahiroun hospital were quoted by the agency as saying that “the twin girls and their mother were in good health.”
The twins were conceived in August last year at the Khartoum Fertility Center run by a group of fertility specialists and gynecologists.
Health minister Ahmed Bilal was the first to congratulate the happy father of the twin's and to hail the success of the operation.
Dr Yagoub Abdulmajid, who co-supervised the conception and delivery, said that they had to operate the mother "to rid her psychological suffering before delivery, said PANA – Albawaba.com
