Sudan will stop buying US wheat by the end of 2001, according to Minister of Agriculture and Forests Majzoub Khalifa, quoted by the Arabic daily, Al Ra’i Al Aam on Sunday.
The minister told the paper that a high level task force has been set up in the country, headed by President Omar Bashir, to reinvigorate the deteriorating agricultural sector in the Arab African country.
Khalifa said that his ministry will hire foreign labor to work in agricultural projects in the country, and “will not hesitate to ask for foreign experts’ assistance if Sudanese experts do not prove their capability of vitalizing the sector.”
