In Saudi Arabia, security forces "inadvertently" shot dead a Sudanese national who left a bank with a bag full of money in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, according to a newspaper report.
The man was fatally wounded in the head on Sunday when a bank protection unit opened fire after he refused to stop for interrogation and tried to drive away in his car, Al-Watan reported Monday.
The victim, who was leaving a branch of Saudi American Bank (SAMBA), shuttled to the bank regularly on behalf of the company for which he worked and did not have a criminal record, the paper quoted a private security guard at the bank as saying.
Meanwhile, his Saudi sponsor said the man had been asked to withdraw 15,000 riyals from the bank and probably ignored the security forces' order to stop because he feared they were thieves posing as security men. (Albawaba.com)
