Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir has delayed a planned visit to Egypt on Monday, reported the official Kuwait news agency, citing the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Sunday.
MENA quoted a Sudanese official source as saying that the delay came as a result of discussions between Cairo and Khartoum during which neither side set a date for Bashir’s visit.
Political sources said that talks between Bashir and his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak were aimed at discussing the situation in Sudan in light of Mubarak's last visit to the US.
They added that the one-day delayed visit was supposed to address coordinating the positions of both countries on regional and international issues, in addition to the joint Egyptian-Libyan initiative on Sudan, and boosting bilateral ties.
Al Rai Al Aam newspaper said last week that Bashir would brief Mubarak on the latest developments regarding Sudan's internal peace efforts.
The situation in the Palestinian lands will be also on the agenda, said the paper – Albawaba.com
