A Sudanese-Ugandan ministerial committee might meet in mid-September in the ugandan capital, kampala, A senior Sudanese official told Kuwait News Agency,(KUNA) Saturday. The meeting which will be held under the supervision of the Carter Center will be part of implementing the normalization agreement signed between the President of Sudan, Omar Al-Bashir and President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi last December reported KUNA.
Minister of state at the foreign affairs ministry and head of the Sudanese side, Ali Abdelrahman Alnimeiri asserted on Saturday to the Sudanese Alayam newspaper that the joint committee is currently carrying out intensive measures to speed up the implementation of the Nairobi agreement.
KUNA reported that the two countries had accused each other of supporting their respective rebels, a matter which caused diplomatic ties to break in 1994.
Tension between Khartoum and Kampala, continued because the articles in the agreement were not completely implemented, especially those relating to the POWS, and people that were kidnapped on both sides – Albawaba.Com
