Sudan on Monday banned women from taking jobs as waitresses or gas station attendants, arguing that it is "un-Islamic."
Khartoum State Governor Majzoub al-Khalifa Ahmed issued an order preventing women from pumping gas or waiting tables in restaurants and cafeterias, claiming that it was "incompatible with Islamic values and traditions."
He also barred women from working in hotel room service unless the guests were women and ordered police and local government officials to enforce the ban in Khartoum, the capital of the Sudanese Islamic state - KHARTOUM (AFP)
