Fifteen persons were killed and over 20 wounded when another suicide bomber blew himself up near Ustad Rabbani University on Friday in the fifth police district in capital Kabul close to the police academy, a security official said.
A security official who wished to go unnamed said that the bomber was dressed in police uniform and exploded his suicide vest the moment when cadets were entring into the academy. Most of the cadets were students of the academy, he added.
Abdul Jabbar, an eyewitness account, told Pajhwok Afghan News the suicide bomber blew himself up near police academy. He said several dead and wounded persons were lying in the area.
Humayum Aini, a senior official at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed the attack but he had no details into casualties.
No group so far claimed credit for the attack.
Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber smashed his explosive-laden vehicle into the building of National Directorate of Security (NDS) office close to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in capital Kabul early Friday, leaving 15 persons dead and 283 wounded, the president's national security advisor said.
Hanif Atmar said that President Ashraf Ghani had appointed to assess losses and damageds inflicted by the devastated bombing. The president, Atmar said had directed to assist the damaged houses and shops after the assessment survey was completed.
The explosion was so powerful that it jolted several parts of capital Kabul. The blast took place at around 1:00 am, an official said.
Media quoted senior official as saying that Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) was detonated near Shah Shaheed area. The official feared the blast inflicted heavy men and material losses.
