AFP reports that a suicide bombing at a Shia mosque killed at least eight people in Baghdad on Wednesday.
In addition, close to 20 people were wounded by the blast.
Daesh posted a statement online claiming the attack, identifying the bomber as "Abu Salem" who wore a suicide belt.
Daesh has conducted multiple bombings against Shia Muslims, whom Daesh considers heretics. In November, twin suicide blasts in the heavily Shia neighborhood of Burj al-Barajneh in Lebanon killed 40 people. In September, Daesh bombed a Shia mosque in Sanaa, Yemen, killing 32.
Daesh controls parts of north and west Baghdad. Bombings in Baghdad increased in November and December, with dozens being killed by bombs in the past two months.
