Sultan Qaboos of Oman arrived Saturday in Islamabad for talks with Pakistani officials on bilateral ties.

“The three-day Royal visit will enhance contacts between Oman and Pakistan and boost mutual understanding on many regional and international issues,” a statement by the foreign ministry said, cited by the Oman Observer newspaper.

It will be Qaboos’s first visit to Pakistan since he attended the OIC summit in Lahore in 1974, said the paper.

"Pakistan attaches the highest priority to strengthen further the existing relations with Oman. We have identified several areas to expand cooperation in the future,” an official said.

Areas of cooperation include chemical fertilizers, power generation, possible introduction of ferry service between the two countries and cooperation in oil and gas sectors," he said – Albawaba.com
