Sweden has told Lebanon it will soon close its embassy in Beirut for budgetary reasons, an official at the Lebanese foreign ministry said Friday.
The closure will go into effect after June 30, when Sweden ends its six-month rotating presidency of the European Union.
Stockholm reopened its embassy in Beirut in March 1999. The mission had been shut down since Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon -- BEIRUT (AFP)
