A Swedish freelance journalist is reportedly missing in an ISIL-controlled area in Syria, after failing to return home at the beginning of this week.

Swedish daily newspaper Expressen reported Friday that the unidentified journalist is in his 30s and has been out of touch for four days.

The journalist, known for covering conflicts in Syria, was planning to enter an ISIL-controlled area via the Turkish province of Gaziantep, according to Expressen.
