Syria’s deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister, Farouq al-Shara, arrived in Islamabad from New Delhi on Wednesday as special envoy of president Bashar al-Assad for talks on bilateral relations, regional and international issues, a foreign office official said.
The Foreign Minister is to meet Pakistani president General Pervez Musharraf on Thursday to deliver a message from the Syrian president. The Syrian minister is also expected to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Inam ul Haq, the Kuwaiti news agency reported.
General Musharraf visited Syria in January and held talks with President al-Assad and Prime Minister Miro. Syria and Pakistan had signed many agreements to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and technology, agriculture, trade and industry, the official added. (Albawaba.com)
