A massive explosion was heard at an air defense base near the city of Latakia in Northeastern Syria, Arab media reported Thursday.
According to reports issued by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the air base, which held anti-craft missiles was completely destoryed.
While it remains unclear who is behinde the attack, reports emerging from the official Lebanese news agency reported that six Israeli Air Force planes were sighted Wednesday night in Southern Lebanon.
Multiple opposition sources report that Israeli strike from the Mediterranean was to blame, but there were no reports of any casualities.
Israel's defense establishment declined to comment on the reports.
Israel has reportedly attacked at least 3 convoys of missiles launchers delivering arms to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The most recent attack of the Syrian missle warehouse was reported at the end of July, however the New York Times said the attack had failed in destroying all of the targeted Russian land-sea missiles, and therefore Israel was likely to strike again.
