The Syrian government said Sunday it will fully commit to the US-Russian plan that aims to destory its chemical weapons arsenal once it has the approval of the United Nations.
Syria's information minister Omran Al Zoubi, in an interview with British television network ITN, said that the government had already begun preparing the relevant documents to enact the plan.
"Syria is committing itself to whatever comes from the UN," Zoubi told ITN, according to Agence France Presse. "We accept the Russian plan to get rid of our chemical weapons. In fact we've started preparing our list."
Meanwhile, speaking live on TF1 television, French President Francois Hollande said Sunday the US-Russian deal, which was reached over the weekend, is an "important step" but "not an end point," AFP reported
Hollande emphasised that the option of military force must remain on the table, adding that a UN vote on a resolution concerning Syria could take place by the end of next week, according to AFP.
