The Syrian Computer Society (SCS) has completed it project on Arabic information and programming dictionary, the first of its kind, reported Tishreen Arabic daily.
According to the paper, the society has formed a number of committees consisting of more than 20 experts and specialists in IT, programming, computer engineering and artificial intelligence representing Damascus University, the Higher Institute for Applied Science and Technology and the Scientific Research Center.
Recorded on a CD, the dictionary also provides advanced search engines which make it accessible on the Internet to all those interested in the Arab World.
The Syrian Computer Society was founded in 1989, as a non-profit organization based in Damascus. SCS extends its membership today to more than 2,500 members and 1,500 associate members in Syria, among whom are Syrian scholars, university professors, engineers, computer specialists, public sector professionals and private entrepreneurs.
The society was presided by current Syrian president Bashar Assad.
