Syria plans to continue its military dialogue with Turkey amid proposals for defense cooperation, reported the Middle East Newsline on Sunday.

Officials said Syria planned to send a high-level military delegation to Ankara next month in an effort to expand defense relations.

The delegation will be headed by Syrian General Adnan Bedr Hassan.

Hassan, who heads Syria's paramilitary forces, will meet Turkish Commander General Aytac Yalman, the official said.

“The two are expected to discuss border security and other areas of cooperation.”

In 1998, the two countries signed the ‘Adana Agreement’ that paved the way for an improvement in a range of bilateral relations.
