Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq Shara praised his country's strong relationship with Iran after meeting Tuesday with an envoy from Ayatollah Ali Khameini, Iran's supreme spiritual leader.
Relations between the two countries "have demonstrated their firmness and the force of their impact regionally and internationally," Shara said in a statement to AFP.
The envoy met Monday with Syria's President Bashar Assad and discussed with him the "common desire of Syria and Iran to expand their cooperation."
