ALBAWABA - Syrian authorities on Sunday denied media reports that they had foiled an assassination attempt plotted against Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
During the past days, media reports allegedly claimed that the Syrian security forces had foiled an assassination attempt on al-Sharaa during his last visit to Daraa city in southwestern Syria.
SANA news agency quoted a source in the Syrian Ministry of Information as saying, "There is no truth to what was circulated by several media outlets about the Syrian Arab Army and Turkish intelligence thwarting an assassination attempt on President Ahmad al-Sharaa during his visit to Daraa."
TRT World reported earlier that a senior IS figure with alleged ties to the Lebanese group (Hezbollah) reportedly attempted to assassinate Ahmed al-Sharaa during a recent visit to Daraa city.
However, the Syrian government denied the reports that talked about the assassination attempt against Ahmed al-Sharaa on Sunday in an official statement.
