At least 23 people were killed and 50 others were injured Monday in Assad regime airstrikes that targeted Douma, an area 10 km north-east of Damascus, a statement by the Syrian Revolution General Commission said.
Yusuf Bustani, a local activist, also told The Anadolu Agency that houses and commercial buildings were destroyed in the attack.
Syria has been gripped by constant fighting since the regime launched a violent crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict that has spiraled into a civil war.
