Archaeological authorities in the Syrian city of Homs have recently renovated different sites in the central city, reported Syria Times on Monday.
The first of these sites was al-Zahrawi palace which was adapted to a museum for popular and folkloric traditions in Homs. Several folkloric items were bought in order to enrich the exhibits of the museum, said the report.
The second site restored was Krak Des Chevalier, a typical example of the Crusader architecture. The fortress was first reparated by the Ayyubids who forced the Crusaders out of Syria Proper. The fortress has been part and parcel of the city’s social and political life.
Studies were also made for the renovation of the circular wall of the Quarter of Forty in cooperation between Homs City Council and the Engineers Union in the city, added the daily.
The revamping process also include the renovation of Mufid al- Amin’s house, a typical old house in the city in addition to some religious and commercial places that were registered as part of the city’s antiquities – Albawaba.com
