Lebanese army intelligence Wednesday detained two Syrians and a Palestinian over the killing of a 7-year-old Syrian boy after his father refused to pay a ransom in exchange for his release.

"Syrian nationals Kusai Moussa Oueir and Youssef Faisal al-Hamad, and Palestinian Youssef Taha al-Zeyadeh were detained Wednesday, a day after they kidnapped Syrian boy Hamza Yasser Hajjaj in Beirut's Cite Sportive area," a military statement said.

The three suspects allegedly killed the boy and dumped his body on the outskirts of the Mount Lebanon village of Bchamoun, after his father refused to pay a ransom for his release.

An investigation is underway and the suspects are under the supervision of the judiciary, the statement said.
