Civil Defense workers retrieved the body of a 6-year-old Syrian boy who drowned in east Lebanon Wednesday, the state's National News Agency reported.

Mohammad Hawash al-Slaiman was found in a large pond in the Bouday plain in the northern Bekaa Valley, after he was reported missing Tuesday night.

The incident comes almost a month after a Syrian boy drowned in an agricultural lake in the town of Taalbaya in the eastern Bekaa Valley.

More than 1 million Syrian refugees have fled to Lebanon since the conflict erupted in neighboring Syria. They live mainly in the Bekaa Valley and the north.
